This will be a purely food related post covering the best american style food experiences I had in Chicago. After all I don’t want to stay hungry on tour. Following a daily cycle we obviously have to start with breakfast. Of course the first thing that comes to mind when talking about american breakfast you think diner with pancakes. So that’s exactly what I did. At Lou Mitchell’s you get the full scene as you know it from the classic movies. Waitresses dressed up in their aprons addressing you with “darling” and “sweetheart” and serving pancakes and re-fill coffee at the counter.  Of course buttered and with maple syrup.

If you are more into sitting in the sun in a park while enjoying your more European influenced twist of American breakfast I recommend The Patio at Café Brauer at Lincoln Park close to the Zoo. Their homemade blueberry crisp with cinnamon ice cream is amazing.

For lunch I somehow ended up eating burgers at Rocks twice. It may just be a sports bar but sitting in the sun in Lake View eating their different creations with homemade pumpkin soup and chili as a side was too good to miss.

For the lighter snack in between I would recommend a good Hot-Dog. I wasn’t that impressed by the several Chicago-Style once you find in downtown but I fell in love with the polish Hot-Dog at Jim’s Original.

And with that and the last views over Chicago I think I finally managed to share my week Chicago with you.
